President meets Press Complaints Commission

The Sri Lanka Press Complaints Commission held a special discussion with President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat.

Attention was paid on actions to be taken to strengthen the self regulation process of the media.

Minister of Parliamentary Reform and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilaka and the Secretary to the Ministry Vajira Narampanava, Chairman of Wijaya Newspapers Ranjith Wijeywardena, Managing Director of Upali Group of Companies, Nimal Welgama, Dr. P. Kesavaraj from Asian Media Publishers (Thinakural Group), Editor of the Sunday Times Sinha Ranatunga, Editor of the Lankadeepa Siri Ranasinghe, Editor of the Sunday Island Manik de Silva, Secretary of the Free Media Movement C. Dodawatta, Kanchana Marasinghe of Working Journalists Association, Kumar Lopez, CEO of Sri Lanka Press Institute and Sukumar Rockwood from Sri Lanka Press Complaints Commission participated in this discussion.
