President takes part in physical fitness program in line with WHO conference

President Maithripala Sirisena today joined the physical fitness program held yesterday at the Galle Face Green in line with the World Health Organization’s 69th Session of the Regional Committee for South East Asia currently being held in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.

Chairman of the WHO regional Conference Minister Rajitha Senaratne, Director General of the World Health Organization Margaret Chan, WHO Regional Director for South-East Asia Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh and health ministers of countries attending the conference also participated in the exercise.

Health ministers and representatives from 11 Southeast Asian countries are meeting in the Sri Lankan capital this week at the 69th World Health Organization (WHO) Southeast Asia meeting that is being held from 5-9 September to discuss ways to combat noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).
