President Maithripala Sirisena and a delegation accompanying him visited the historic Emerald Buddha Temple in Bangkok on Saturday.
The President engaged in prayers and rites at the temple, including worshipping the temple’s famed Buddha statue.
The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is regarded as the most important Buddhist temple in Thailand. It enshrines the Emerald Buddha, the highly revered Buddha image meticulously carved from a single block of jade.
The President and the delegation also visited the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
President Sirisena will address the Asia Cooperation Dialogue tomorrow. He will also attend a dinner to be hosted by the Thai Premier for the Heads of States who attend the Asia Cooperation Dialogue.
