Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday expressed his condolence on the death of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. His message to Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stated the following. It is with deep sadness that I have learnt of the passing away of His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.   I warmly recall the significant role played by the late King to enhance bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the mutual benefit of our peoples. On behalf of my country, I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the support extended to Sri Lanka by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during the reign of the late King at the international fora.   The late King’s far sighted policies to ensure a brighter future for the people of Saudi Arabia and His Majesty’s contribution towards bringing peace and stability to the Middle East Region is widely acknowledged. His inspirational unwavering determination and commitment to serve the people of Saudi Arabia, was admired and appreciated. At this time of national grief, the Government and people of Sri Lanka join me in extending deepest condolences to Your Highness, the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly the members of the Royal Family of the late King.
