Prime Minster prays at Tirumala temple

2016-12-13-ft-img-06Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Thursday offered prayers at the famous Lord Venkateshwara temple at Tirumala, in Tirupati, India.

Accompanied by his wife Maithree Wickremesinghe, he had ‘darshan’ at the hill shrine in the morning, the IANS reported.

The couple reached the temple’s main door through Vaikuntam Queue Complex. They participated in various rituals conducted by the priests. After ‘darshan’, they were blessed by the priests at Ranganayakula mandap.

Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Chadalawada Krishnamurthy presented ‘prasadam’ to the Prime Minister and his wife.

The couple had arrived in the temple town on Wednesday evening and stayed at the Sri Krishna Rest House for the night.

Premier Wickremesinghe is set to return to Sri Lanka today after offering prayers at the hill temple.

Sri Lanka’s Minister for Prison Reforms and Hindu religious affairs D. M. Swaminathan and Minister for Infrastructure and Community Development Palani Digambaram are accompanying the Premier.
