Discussion of the annual activity plan

 

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka, being the economic, safety and technical regulator of the electricity industry and the shadow regulator of the lubricants market, is in the process of planning many innovative projects to be executed in 2016 expanding its service to the electricity consumers as well as the stakeholders. This was revealed at the recent workshop on the annual activity plan 2016 held in Colombo. Team leaders of the projects presented their plans and strategies on the deliverables proposed for 2016 and beyond. The PUCSL meeting was held on 1 June at the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority where the Annual Activity Plan 2016 was presented and discussed by the staff of PUCSL.

The proposed projects have been identified by the various divisions of PUCSL in order to achieve the goals set out for 2020. 12 goals set for electricity sector represent the performance level required by the year 2020 in terms of quality, reliability, safety, price, customer and service information of the electricity industry in Sri Lanka.

The projects presented at this workshop aim to strengthen the electricity consumer, improve service quality, reduction of total cost of electricity supply and increase the electricity safety. Once these projects are finalised along with the respective budgets, they will be open for public comments. Appropriate comments by the general public will be incorporated into the respective projects and the final annual activity plan is planned to be presented to the general public, other stakeholders and relevant authorities is August.
