Signing of MoU for extensive bilateral relations including trade

The Prime Minister of Qatar is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on a two-day official visit next Monday, a Minister said yesterday.

According to Cabinet Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, it was decided to establish a Joint Committee with the Government of Qatar to strengthen bilateral relations in the economic, commercial, cultural, scientific, technical, education and information sectors and to develop trade, investment and tourism between the two countries.

Accordingly, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed during the visit of the Qatar Prime Minister.

Agreements on economic, commercial and technical cooperation and cultural collaboration will be signed between the two Governments during this visit. This will help to enhance economic relations between the two countries and to promote and facilitate export and import of industrial and agricultural raw material and value added products, the Minister said.

“Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani and the Foreign Minister of Qatar will be visiting Sri Lanka 12-13 December,” he added.
