Rajitha to attend 70th World Health Assembly in Geneva next week

Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne will attend the70th World Health Assembly of World health Organization (WHO), scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland from 22nd to 31st May.

Minister Senaratne is scheduled to make a special address, the Government Information department said. In addition the Minister is also scheduled to address the Commonwealth health ministers as well.

The Colombo Declaration adopted at the Commonwealth Health Ministers summit in Colombo too will be presented at this summit.

During this tour Dr. Senaratne is scheduled to take part in many project meetings related to improvement of health. Minister will also attend the meeting themed Maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health.

The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by all WHO Member States and focuses on a health agenda prepared by the Executive Board.
