Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga are to tour in India next week.

Opposition sources say the two leaders are to participate in a political conference organized by an organization in which the former Sri Lankan President is involved in.

Several political leaders in the region are expected to attend the conference.

During his stay in India, the Opposition Leader is expected to hold talks with the Indian leaders, sources say.

Wickremasinghe is the first Sri Lankan political leader to visit India since that country voted against Sri Lanka for the UN resolution at the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva last month.

After participating in the conference Wickremasinghe is scheduled to visit Sikkim State of India before returning to Sri Lanka.
