The leader of Sri Lanka’s major opposition United National Party (UNP) Ranil Wickremesinghe has taken over the party electoral organiser position for Central Colombo.
Former Central Colombo UNP organiser Mohammed Maharoof recently joined the government and he is now contesting to the Colombo Municipal Council under ruling party ticket.
Wickremesinghe has appointed two sub organisers for Central Colombo. One part of the electorate is organised by Mujiber Rahuman while the other part is organised by Faroos Hajjiyar, both are members of the Western Provincial Council.
Central Colombo electorate is considered as the back bone of UNP power in Colombo.
