Religious ceremonies to bless President Rajapaksa

A series of religious programs have been organized to bless President Mahinda Rajapaksa in connection with the President’s birthday falling on the 18th of this month and to mark President Rajapaksa’s seventh anniversary of assuming Office

 Accordingly, religious programs will be held throughout the country from today onwards.

One week’s Pirith chanting will be held from November 12 to 19 at main Vihara in all the districts. In Kandy it will be held at Sri Daladawa Maligawa, Kataragama at Kiri Vehera and in Ratnapura at the Saman Devalaya etc.

Alms giving for 100 Buddhist monks will be held on the 19th. Bodhi pooja will be held in all the temples in the country from the 12th of this month.

Similar ceremonies will also be held in the places of religious worship of Hindu, Islam and Christian faiths as well.

These details were announced by Presidential Advisor on Buddhist Affairs Venerable Aggahere Kashapa Thero at a media conference held at the Information Department auditorium yesterday, presided over by the Minister of Water Supply and Drainage Dinesh Gunawardene.
