Results of the highly competitive 2011 G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination that was mired in controversy would not be cancelled Commissioner General of Examinations, Anura Edirisinghe has said.
Edirisinghe has said that there was no need for such a move since the technical error during the calculation of District Rankings has been completely rectified.
He has added that errors had not taken place in the national rankings and grading.
Also addressing a press conference on the matter, Higher Education Minister S.B Dissanayaka said the new formula based on which the Z score for university admissions announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) is not defective.
The Minister has said the confusion was caused by some students who had entered wrong index numbers to check their results.
Meanwhile, re-correction applications for the exam would be accepted from 29 December, Examinations Department said. The applications would be accepted till 9 January, 2012.
