Minister of Industry and Commerce, ACMC’s leader and Vanni MP Rishad Bathiudeen visited many Sinhalese settlements of Vavuniya South Sinhala Division on 6 August.

Weli Oya Vihara Chief Most Ven. Polonnaruwa Thilakalankara Thero joined Bathiudeen during the day time visit.  During his day tour he visited 15 such settlements in South Sinhala Division – at times visiting individual households and inquired of the residents’ needs and issues.

The residents who extended a warm welcome to Bathiudeen thanked him for his continued development support to their villages. “We thank you for your help to re-build and renovate 10 of the 11 Buddhist temples in Welioya,” they said.

The villagers informed him that their biggest issue was water supply, especially drinking water. They also expressed the need for more infrastructure development for their settlements. Bathiudeen explained that he understood their plight and informed them that he would continue to work to resolve their issues, including any administrative issues and red-tape to get water.
