Roads in Colombo considered hitherto as coming within the High Security Zones were opened to the public from yesterday.
Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said Janadhipathi Mawatha, Sir Baron Jayathilaka Mawatha, Chatham Street and Mudalige Mawatha which were closed for vehicle transportation earlier, have been opened for the transportation of light vehicles. Bauddhaloka Mawatha from Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha (Jawatta Road) to Thunmulla Junction too are reopened for heavy vehicles. Public Order Minister John Amaratunga has directed the Police to reopen the closed roads.
