Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga delivered the Zafrullah Khan Memorial Lecture at the King’s College, London on 12 December on the topic ‘The State and Terrorism’.

The former Head of State said, “The deep-rooted causes of conflict must be identified when planning counter-terrorist strategies. This will, no doubt, take time and involve complex operations.  However, it is such a holistic approach that has proved to finally overcome violent protest and conflict in a durable manner.”

The event was held at London’s International Centre for Studies in Radicalisation and was chaired by Lord David Trimble of Northern Ireland, the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize winner
