Rs. 10 m to develop Medawachchiya health facilities

The Government granted Rs. 10 million to increase the health facilities of the people in the Medawachchiya electorate. This financial allocation is granted to Kebithigollewa, Medawachchiya, Padaviya and Rambewa Divisional Secretariats under the ‘Dorin Dorata – Gamin Gamata,’ ‘Isurumath Niwahanak,’ ‘Asirimath Maubimak’ programs, launched by the Economic Development Ministry, Child Development and Women’s Affair Minister Tissa Karalliyadde said. He said so after laying the foundation stone for a maternal and child clinic to be built at a cost of Rs.2 million at Ikirigollewa in Rambewa. Mothers who had to travel six kilometres with their children to the MOH office in Rambewa, can benefit from the new clinic. About 600 families in the area will also benefit. The Government had granted Rs. 477 million for the development work in Medawachchiya out of which Rs. 22 million was allocated for education. Medawachchiya, Kebithigollewa and Padaviya known to be remote areas in the past are being developed rapidly in an unprecedented way, the Minister said.
