Rs. 128 Million disbursed as Relief Assistance

The government has allocated Rs. 128 million to provide expeditious relief facilities to the people affected by rains and floods.

Minister of Disaster Management said that the government is ready to allocate further funds if it becomes necessary.



The Minister addressing the media during the Cabinet Press briefing at the Ministry of Mass Media and Information Thursday said that cooked foods, dried foods, medicines, drinking water and other requirements are being provided to the displaced people, and  members of the Army, Navy and Air Force are assisting in this operation and they are also assisting in rescuing the entrapped people.

The Minister said that  funds for relief assistance have been issued to district secretaries.  The Minister said that allegations have been received that government officials in certain areas have deliberately avoided carrying out relief assistance activities and assured that stern action will be taken against any such official if it was found to be true.
