Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says that the defeats experienced by the governing United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) at local government level are fast spreading to other levels of national politics as well. JVP politburo member and the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the Western Provincial Council, K. D. Lalkantha said that the stance taken by governing party members to show their displeasure by voting against the 2014 Budgets has given courage to governing party members in other levels like provincial and national level politics to stand with their conscience. He told a public meeting in Kaduwela that the UPFA members in the local government bodies have stood firm despite warnings issued by party leaders to sack them from the governing UPFA. According to Lalkantha, growing dissention against the actions of senior government members is spreading to the provincial and national level politics and people would be able to witness it soon.
