The five MPs sacked from the SLFP Central Working Committee are to take legal action against the party. One of the sacked MPs, former Minister Bandula Gunawardana said that the group would seek legal action against the party decision to remove them from Central Working Committee membership. Former Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardana said that the decision regarding this matter depended on the SLFP supporters and the 5.8 million voters who voted for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Other MPs in the defiant group, T.B. Ekanayake, S.M. Chandrasena and Salinda Dissanayake, also expressed their views during the media conference.
