Sajin languishes in remand

The Colombo Fort Magistrate yesterday further remanded the former monitoring MP of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Sajin Vass Gunawardena when his case was heard.

The magistrate rejected the bail application filed by the former MP and further remanded the former UPFA Parliamentarian until 11 August.

Vass Gunawardena, who was also a coordinating secretary of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, is charged with misusing state property. He has allegedly misused 23 vehicles attached to the Presidential Secretariat.

He is facing several charges of alleged corruption and fraud levelled against him during the tenure of the former regime.
