The newly-appointed Minister of Housing and Samurdhi Saijth Premadasa has decided not take a monthly salary, official vehicles, petrol allowances and residence. The Minister instructed his Secretary that these funds should be allocated for the Sevana Housing Fund program. The Minister initiated a 50,000 housing program for remote villages in the island. He said his official public day to meet people would be from 7 a.m. and requested his officials to completely ban liquor and smoking during his official functions
