Salawa fire victims get compensation from today

The victims of the recent fire in the Salawa army camp ammunition depot, will receive compensation from today for their damaged houses and properties. 

According to the Government records 654 houses and buildings were damaged due to the incident while some were totally destroyed.

Therefore each of the affected families would be given Rs. 50,000 per month for a quarter. Those families would be entitled to this benefit upon certification by the divisional secretary. 

The Government has decided this compensation amount after estimating the total damage of properties.
