SC allows to file amended petition against four Tamil political parties

 The Supreme Court yesterday allowed to file amended petition by Sinhala Jathika Peramuna (SJP) seeking declaration that one of aims of four Tamil political parties is the establishment of a separate state.

The Bench comprising Chief Justice Shirani A. Bandaranayake, Justices K. Sripavan and Sathya Hettige allowed to file amended petition subject to objection by the Respondent political parties.

Court directed the petitioner Jayantha Liyanage to re-issue notices to the Respondent political parties.

The matter was fixed for support on September 14 with notices to the Respondents.

Petitioner by profession an electronic engineer cited himself as the General Secretary of the political party bearing name, the SJP, which he says yet an unrecognised political party.

He filed the application against Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) alias Federal Party, Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF), Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO) and Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Organisation (EPRLF).

He cited ITAK Secretary Mavai Senathirajah, TULF President V. Anandasangaree, TELO Secretary N. Indrakumar and EPRLF Secretary K. Premachandran as Respondents.

President’s Counsel K. Kanag Iswaran with M.A Sumanthiran appeared for the ITAK.
