Shiranthi to appear at Presidential Commission of Inquiry on another day; Nishantha due today

z_p01-LankanShiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of former President and Kurunegala District MP Mahinda Rajapaksa, will appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Inquire and Investigate into Serious Acts of Fraud and Corruption (PRECIFAC) on another day, Secretary of the commission, Lasil De Silva said.

Shiranthi Rajapaksa has been ordered to appear before the PRECIFAC at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.

De Silva said a lawyer, who appeared on behalf of the former first lady, requested another day.

The former first lady was summoned to record a statement regarding an alleged discrepancy by the Ministry of Housing and Common Amenities during the previous United People’s Freedom Alliance government.

It has been reported that a former media coordinating officer of Shiranthi Rajapaksa was provided with a house belonging to the National Housing Development Authority below the estimated value.

Meanwhile, Former Chairman of SriLankan Airlines Nishantha Wickremesinghe, brother of Shiranthi Rajapaksa, and Chief Executive Officer of the company Kapila Chandrasena have been summoned to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry today.
