SL committed to strengthening relationship with Pakistan: PM Wickremesinghe

The Prime Minister and High Commissioner exchanged views on further promoting bilateral ties between the two countries. Qureshi congratulated the Prime Minister upon the assumption of his office and expressed hope that the relationship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka would continue to prosper and grow stronger under the new Government. The High Commissioner of Pakistan, Major General (right) Qasim Qureshi with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees on Monday   The High Commissioner also thanked the Prime Minister for personally visiting the High Commission to record his condolences for the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Peshawar. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said that he was committed to further strengthening the already strong relationship between the two countries. He further stated that both sides should expeditiously coordinate dates for President Maithripala Sirisena’s visit to Pakistan in the near future. The High Commissioner briefed the Sri Lankan Prime Minister on the strong steps being taken by the Government of Pakistan to root out terrorism from the country. He also underscored Pakistan’s strong commitment to strengthening SAARC and promoting regional peace and stability.
