President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that Sri Lanka nurses are having a high global demand at present.
“Today there is a big demand for quality nurses globally. In this context Sri Lankan nurses have a high international demand from both in the East and West including the countries such as USA and Afghanistan,“ President Mahinda Rajapaksa said during his address to 2,500 new trainee nursing recruits at Temple Trees on Sunday.
The President emphasized that nursing is not just a profession but an honorable social service. A smiling nurse and kind care could go a long way in giving strength to an ailing patient in his or her endeavor to recover from the illness, he said.Whatever heights you reach in knowledge and your profession you should never forget to honor your motherland with the same devotion and love, President said. Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena addressing the gathering noted that healthcare centres in the North and East which were in a dilapidated state due to earlier conflict have been fully restored.
He predicted further progress in the healthcare sector in the country in the coming years.
