SLA hands over 23 acres of paddy land in north

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has handed over paddy land in the north that was within an army camp back to the original owners. An extent of 23 acres of paddy fields that remained within the Mullaitivu Army camp perimeter has been released back to their original owners for cultivation under an initiative taken by Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaitivu (SFHQ-MLT) Major General L.B.R. Mark, the Army said. At a ceremony held recently the Army handed over the barren paddy fields to the owners and the owners have commenced tilling the fields to get them ready for cultivation. A stock of seed paddy (50 bushels), donated to the owners free of charge, was also sown during the ceremony.
