SLFP axes Devinuwara organiser

President Maithripala Sirisena as President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has removed Southern Provincial Councillor Kanchana Wijesekera from the post of SLFP Organiser for Devinuwara and appointed Nilanga Hendawitharana in his place.

Wijesekera played a major role in organising the successful pro-Mahinda Rajapaksa rally held in Matara on 12 June.

Wijesekera, the eldest son of former Minister Mahinda Wijesekera who was injured in the suicide bomb blast at Godapitiya, was also Basnayaka Nilame of the Shri Vishnu Dewalaya Devinuwara.

Matara District Organiser and SLFP Vice President Dullas Alahapperuma called for Wijesekera’s immediate reinstatement at a press conference, which was attended by former MP H.R. Wimslasiri, Premasiri Mannage and many present and past members of Pradeshiya Sabhas in the district.
