SLMC signs MoU with Malaysia’s UMNO

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the largest political party in Malaysia has been signed on Wednesday (26) at the latter’s Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. SLMC Secretary General Parliamentarian M.T. Hassan Ali signed the document on behalf of his party in the presence of its Leader, Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem. Secretary General of UMNO Minister Tengku Adnan Mansor was the other signatory. Both parties pledged to develop a comprehensive development of exchange and cooperation in the fields of training young political leaders and exchange programs. Prior to the signing of the MoU, Minister Hakeem met the Minister of Federal Territories and the Secretary General of UMNO Tengku Adnan Mansor. Both Ministers discussed the current political situation in their respective countries and bilateral issues. SLMC Leader Hakeem participated at the Annual General Meeting of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) and also addressed the gathering at its second day session on Tuesday (25). Representatives of many countries were among the participants. Hakeem also was engaged in few official meetings related to judicial and legal sectors during his stay in Malaysia. Legal Adviser M.H.M. Salman accompanied the Minister.
