Sri Lanka army discusses welfare with ex-LTTE combatants

The Sri Lanka Army recently met with rehabilitated former combatants of the LTTE to discuss their issues and present conditions.
Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) recently met rehabilitated ex-combatants who were resettled in the Kilinochchi area.
He met with the rehabilitated cadres from 25-26 March in Kilinochchi to discuss current issues related to resettlement and solutions to their problems.
The SFHQ-KLN also took steps this week to release some lands occupied by the Army for security purposes, to the rightful owners.
According to the Government’s policy of releasing lands of civilians used by the military, SFHQ-KLN on Monday (24) handed over 21 plots of lands in Pooneryn, Mulankavil and Pulliyankulam areas to their rightful owners.
The military also awarded monetary grants to 23 affected families who had lost a child of their family, either due to warfare or terrorist violence, at a ceremony headed by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake.
The Army also distributed 93 dairy cows among Kilinochchi civilians to support the livelihoods of the resettled people.
