Sri Lanka Army’s third annual defence seminar today

The Army’s third annual defence seminar will be held from today (3 September) to Thursday, 5 September, at the Galadari Hotel in Colombo. This year the seminar, themed ‘Post-Conflict Sri Lanka: Challenges and Regional Stability’ will share and discuss a wide range of issues in the context of both regional and global scenarios. The three-day meeting will focus on post-conflict reconstruction, social integration, reconciliation, and regional stability and will seek possibilities of strengthening regional stability further in a global perspective, according to the Army. The three-day seminar will include sessions categorised under reconciliation, nation building, national security, political/foreign relations, regional perspective, and global perspectives. More than 23 guest speakers, including eight eminent foreign contributors from Bangladesh, China, Germany, India, Pakistan, UK and Vietnam will address the Defence Seminar - 013, the organisers said. According to the organisers, more than 50 foreign delegates, in addition to Colombo-based diplomats, defence attachés and a group of more than 20 India-based defence attachés had confirmed their participation in the conference by 29 August. India BJP Leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy, Dr. N. Sathyamurthy of Chennai Chapter, Sohail Amin of Pakistan, Senior Colonel Xu Hui of China, Senior Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan of Vietnam, Dr. Clive Vincent Jachnik of UK and Prof. Joachim Krause of Germany are among foreign speakers who will contribute to the sessions.
