Sri Lanka Telecom rejects election accusations

Following a report by the www.lankaenews.com website that it was possible for those who are aware of the passwords of the Sri Lanka Telecom terminal line to change the results of the presidential election, the Sri Lanka Telecom Group Chief Executive Officer Lalith De Silva rejected the accusations and declared his position to the Elections Commissioner regarding this issue yesterday. In response the Elections Commissioner clearly stated that the falseness of this accusation was already evident. Furthermore, the Commissioner said that he had decided to assign the responsibility of providing telecommunication networks for the purpose of the election to SLT considering the trustworthiness and the reliability of the company. The Commissioner also condemned the false accusations made by the said website.
