Sri Lanka, Vietnam agree to boost judicial cooperation

Sri Lanka and Vietnam will enter into an agreement to boost the judicial cooperation between the two countries in the areas of foreign investment and judicial reforms, among others.

The cabinet has grant approval for Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Justice to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on judicial cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam.

Under the MoU, the two nations will cooperate on the areas of exchanging experience on implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, exchanging experience on Commercial Dispute Settlement by arbitration and other mechanisms, developing and implementing laws on foreign investment, exchanging experience on Legal and Judicial Reforms, and other areas of mutual interest.

Minister of Justice Rauff Hakeem put forward the proposal in this regard to the Cabinet.
