Sri Lankan illegal immigrant arrested in Moldova

An illegal immigrant from Sri Lanka was arrested in Moldova while he was about to go to France, the border protection authorities in Moldova said.

The Sri Lankan was arrested in Otaci, a town in Moldova. It was revealed that a criminal gang had promised the Sri Lankan they would help him cross the border to enter France.

The 23-year-old Sri Lankan was arrested during a joint operation carried out by border guards and officers of the Police Inspectorate after they received information about the attempt by the Sri Lankan to cross the border illegally.
