SriLankan flies second relief flight to Nepal

SriLankan Airlines yesterday successfully operated the second relief flight to Kathmandu, Nepal carrying 17,000 kg of relief supplies for the earthquake victims in Nepal.

Accordingly UL 4195 reached its destination and unloaded its cargo assisted by Sri Lankan security and United States Air Force personnel. In its return flight, SriLankan Airlines was privileged to bring home the entire Sri Lanka security personnel contingent comprising Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force who were actively engaged in treating the victims injured in the disaster.

The Sri Lankan security contingent numbering 142, were led by Major General Mithri Dias. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Acting Director General South Asia and SAARC Dharshana M. Perera also joined the relief flight. In the aftermath of the Himalayan earthquake, SriLankan Airlines had flown relief aid amounting to 36,000 kg to Nepal.
