The Provincial High Court of the Western Province Colombo, exercising Civil Appellate Jurisdiction today, extended the Stay Orders, staying the operation of enjoining orders obtained by Former President of the CEBU Amarapala Gamage, in the District Court of Colombo, till 14 February 2012.
Gamage was represented by Presidents Counsel Romesh De Silva, appearing with Sugath Caldera filed action in the District Court of Colombo and obtained Enjoining Orders, restraining A.K. Bandara and others from acting as office bearers of the Ceylon Bank Employees Union, and from utilizing the registered office of the Ceylon Bank Employees Union.
Presidents Counsel Faiszer Musthapha, appeared with Isuru Balapatabendi and Tharaka Nanayakkara for A.K. Bandara and others and appealed to the Provincial High Court of the Western Province Colombo, exercising Civil Appellate Jurisdiction, seeking to set aside the said Enjoining Orders.
Judges of the Civil Appellate High Court, L.T.B Dehideniya and J. Madawala, issued Stay Orders at the first instance, staying the operation of the said Enjoining Orders. Romesh De Silva thereafter made submissions and sought to set aside the said Stay Orders which was resisted by Faiszer Musthapha and consequent to the same, the Civil Appellate High Court extended the Stay Orders staying the operation of Enjoining Orders restraining A.K Bandara and others from acting as office bearers of the Ceylon Bank Employees Union and from utilizing the registered office of the Ceylon Bank Employees Union till 14 February 2012.
