Thai, Japanese Princesses pay homage at Dalada Maligawa

Visiting Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand and Japan’s Princess Tsuguko of Takamado separately visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa, the most sacred temple of the tooth relic yesterday in Kandy. President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa accompanied the visiting royals. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand and Japan’s Princess Tsuguko of Takamado met the Diyawadana Nilame of the Dalada Maligawa Nilanga Dela. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn arrived in the country on Monday on a four-day visit at the invitation of President Rajapaksa. During her visit, she is scheduled to tour Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Kandy, the Peradeniya botanical garden and Nuwara Eliya. Japan’s Princess Tsuguko of Takamado also arrived in the island on Monday for a four-day visit from 19 to 23 August at the invitation of the President. During her stay in the island, Princess Tsuguko will also visit the Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura. The two princesses viewed the final Randoli Perahara of the Esala Perahara last night.
