Three new heads of mission present credentials

Two ambassadors and a high commissioner presented their credentials to President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat this morning. They were: Ambassador of DPR Korea Kye Yong, Ambassador of PR China Yi Xianliang and High Commissioner of Ghana Samuel Panyin Yalley. During the meeting President Sirisena said the government foreign policy is to continue on the path of non-alignment with cordial relations with all nations. “We consider the friendship with all the nations and people, is of utmost importance for our country and the people,” the President said adding that Sri Lanka seeks cooperation of the other nations for utilisation of new technology for our progress. “We want investments for our industrial sector and especially for agriculture sector, which is the backbone of our economy.” He made a special reference to strong relations with China and the Ambassador Xianliang assured fullest support for Sri Lanka’s development. All three heads of mission assured their countries’ support to Sri Lanka at international forums.
