Three new ministry secretaries appointed

New Secretaries have been appointed for three Cabinet Ministries and have received their letters of appointment from the Secretary to the President, P. B. Abeykoon, at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

New Secretaries were appointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Administration and Management and the Ministry of Postal Services respectively.

Asela Weerakoon has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 1988 and served in several foreign postings in London, Canberra, Kuala Lumpur and Paris. He served as Charge d’ Affaires at Sri Lanka Embassies in Washington DC and in Tokyo. During his tenure of service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has served in different capacities including having served as High Commissioner to India. J. J. Rathnasiri and D.G.M.V. Hapuarachchi have been appointed as the new Secretaries to the Ministry of Public Administration and Management and the Ministry of Postal Services respectively.

Following the presentation of their letters of appointment President Maithripala Sirisena held a cordial discussion with them, the President’s media division said.
