Two-day induction workshop for MPs starts today

The induction workshop for Members of Parliament elected to the eighth Parliament organised by the Secretary General of Parliament will be held from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on 10 and 11 September at Committee Room No. 1 of Parliament.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya will chair the opening sessions of the workshop where Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be the Chief Guest.

The Opposition Leader, Deputy Speaker, Deputy Chairman of Committees, Leader of the House, Chief Government Whip and Chief Opposition Whip will be among the invitees.

UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Subinay Nandy, UNDP Parliamentary Advisor and former MP Charles Chauvel, Westminister Foundation for Democracy Regional Director Asia and MENA, Dr Dina Melhem and House of Commons, UK, MP Andrew Stevenson will be among the resource personnel.

All Members of Parliament have been requested to participate.
