UN technical assistance for Sri Lanka’s reconciliation and development

 The United Nations has assured Sri Lanka that it will provide the technical assistance and contributions to advance reconciliation and inclusive development through dialogue for a sustainable solution to the longstanding ethnic grievances.

Resident Coordinator of UN and UNDP Subinay Nandi has said that the UN Secretary General has assured to support the President and the Government of Sri Lanka to reach the solutions to long lasting problems when he met with the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday at the Presidential Secretariat.

The President said that he will be attending the General debate of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York on 30th September 2015.

During the meeting President Sirisena reiterated Sri Lanka’s commitment to all international obligations which it has engaged with and will continue to do so in the future.

Mr. Nandi presented to the President several books and journals published by UN office in Sri Lanka including the Sri Lanka National Human Development Report 2014 published by UNDP.
