General Secretary of Sri Lanka main Opposition United National Party (UNP) Tissa Attanayake strongly denied the rumors that he was considering to crossover to the Government. Speaking to the party members and organisers gathered at the UNP headquarters in Sirikotha to welcome the common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena, Attanayake dismissed the media reports that said he was offered Rs. 500 million to join the Government. The UNP MP said he will not crossover to the Government and no amount of money can buy over his conscience. Attanayake said the UNP has to ensure the victory of the common opposition candidate and urged the UNP members to back Maithripala Sirisena at the upcoming presidential elections. This is Sirisena’s first visit to the UNP headquarters, SiriKotha after he announced his candidacy for presidency. Addressing the UNP members gathered to welcome the candidate, party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe said that a national Government will be formed as soon as Maithripala Sirisena wins the Presidential election on 8 January.
