UNP responds to Govt. accusation on CATIC land sale cancellation

UNP MP Dr. Harsha de Silva  responding to Govt. accusation on CATIC land sale cancellation said  “As a responsible opposition the UNP takes full responsibility for having stopped the outright sale of seven acres of prime Galle Face land to CATIC; the Chinese military aircraft manufacturing company on an absolutely non-transparent deal that did not involve any competitive bidding. 

The UNP is not attempting to block investments or development in our country as accused but rather is taking a strong stand to bring transparency into transactions involving public property.  In this context we demand that the Government immediately reveal the terms and conditions of sale on the four acres already handed over to CATIC on an outright basis using an invalid agreement.”
