The main opposition United National Party (UNP) says the country is moving from one crisis to another under the current government.

UNP parliamentarian and Chief Opposition Whip John Amaratunga told a news conference that doing away with the 17th Amendment by introducing the 18th Amendment to the Constitution has resulted in the current crises faced by the country.

He said that the country’s judiciary has now come under the government’s intimidation.

Amaratunga charged that members of the government were working only for their personal benefits instead of the people.

However, the opposition legislator noted that people could object to the current path of the government at the forthcoming provincial council election.
