US Assistant Secretary meets Sri Lanka’s Secretary of Defense

The United States Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, Tom Malinowski met the Secretary to the Ministry of Defense Karunasena Hettiarachchi on Wednesday evening (13 July) at the Ministry and held discussions.

“Secretary Hettiarachchi and Mr. Malinowski had cordial discussions during the meeting on matters of bilateral importance and mutual relevance,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Secretary Hettiarachchi also presented the visiting dignitary a memento to mark the occasion. Malinowski was accompanied by US Deputy Assistant Secretary, South & Central Asian Affairs Manpreet Singh Anand and Deputy Chief of Mission Robert Hilton at the U.S. Embassy in Colombo.

Ministry officials, Commanders of the Army and Air Force and Chief of Staff of the Navy were also present at the occasion
