Vesak celebrations held in Mumbai

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai together with the Department of Pali Studies of the University of Mumbai and the Ajanta Buddha Vihar Trust in Thane celebrated the 2559th Buddha Jayanti.

The University of Mumbai had organised week-long exhibitions of paintings, photography and sculpture depicting Jataka stories and events in the life of Lord Buddha.

The Consul General Saroja Sirisena addressing the gathering of Buddhists highlighted that Buddhism was the foundation on which Indo-Lanka relations were fostered. It was also emphasised that Sri Lanka took pride in nurturing the gift of Buddhism brought by Arahat Mahinda and was honoured to share it again with India and the re4-INst of the world.
