Veteran broadcaster Elmo Fernando passes away

Veteran journalist Elmo Fernando passed away at the age of 75 at his residence yesterday. Fernando started as an announcer with Radio Ceylon in 1967 and subsequently became a news caster and a program producer as well as a news reporter. Fernando left the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation in the 1970s and joined BBC Sinhala service. He worked as the Colombo Correspondent of the BBC for more than 20 years. His final rites were conducted yesterday at S t . John’s D a l b a s t o n i Church Burial Grounds in Pelawatte.
