Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S.M. Chandrasena said the government has taken steps to withdraw the military camps located inside the Wilpattu National Park. However, the withdrawal of the camps is to take place gradually without causing an impact on the national security, the Minister said.
He claimed that the military camps set up in the park during the war for security purposes had become an obstacle to the movement of the wild animals and also to tourism promotion in the National Park.
The Ministry has drawn the attention of the Ministry of Defence in this regard, the Minister further stated. (www.colombopage.com)
