Wimal grilled by FCID over alleged financial irregularities

Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa was questioned by the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) yesterday over alleged financial irregularities at the Housing Ministry when he was the minister in charge.

Weerawansa said the FCID had informed court that he was evading notice issued to him to appear before the FCID. He says he was unable to appear before the FCID because of the Budget debate and because he went overseas with a Parliamentary delegation.

    Weerawansa said he visited FCID yesterday following a court order issued to the effect.
