A commission on commissions: Quintessential Rajapaksa duplicity

President Rajapaksa’s decision to create another commission could not be more laughable (“President appoints CoI on human rights”.)

Announcing a commission on commissions with a forthcoming UN Human Rights Council session starting soon! Frankly, this is an insulting move that’s not going to convince anyone who hasn’t already drank the Rajapaksa Kool-Aid.

The President’s record is well-known, in Geneva and elsewhere. He’s taken the country on a dangerous and radically militaristic path. Things keep getting worse.

If the President wants to persuade people that his tenure hasn’t been disastrous, he’s going to have to do significantly more than create a farcical commission that no one takes seriously.
